About Us
The Authority and Methodology
22 Years of Engineering Reliability. Forged by Extreme Challenge.
The Good Dog Blueprint is the definitive culmination of 22 years of elite, competitive, and behavioral mastery. This system was not developed in a quiet classroom; it was forged in the fire of extreme personal challenge—a necessary evolution that occurred when conventional training failed the founder’s own high-drive, alpha-mentality American Field Lab.
This unparalleled background—spanning competitive obedience, hunting, scentwork, service dog training, and extreme behavior modification—is the foundation for your dog's success. When you choose us, you are investing in a system proven to handle the most difficult cases, ensuring your dog can confidently handle the real world.
The Confident Dog Methodology: We Teach Dogs How to Think
Our training philosophy is built on creating internal reliability, not rote compliance. We specialize in "The Confident Dog" training—an approach born from necessity, designed to build self-esteem and lasting self-control in even the most challenging dogs.
-
A Custom, Balanced Approach: We use a fully customized, balanced methodology of positive and negative reinforcement, specifically catered to your dog's unique personality and rhythm. This ensures they receive the clarity and fair boundaries necessary for rapid, humane learning.
-
Freedom Within Boundaries: We teach your dog to think critically, giving them the freedom to make smart choices within clear, fair boundaries. This intentional process results in a dog who reliably makes good decisions—the kind of dog who is comfortable and confident in any situation.
-
Aspirations Realized: We believe you must have a great, well-mannered dog first. Our process creates a companion so reliable, confident, and pleasant that they become "the dog fought over by friends and family" to care for when you are away.
The Difference is Proven: National-Caliber Expertise
Our competitive history serves as verifiable proof of our system's efficacy. Our dogs have achieved over 100 competitive titles and certifications in demanding disciplines from tracking to the show ring. Our ability to train a family dog to achieve the status of a Number 8 dog in the Nation in competitive hunting showcases the depth of our system—the same system that successfully transformed the founder’s own "impossible" dogs into model citizens.

OUR STORY: George, The Alpha, and The Genesis of The Blueprint
The Shock of Reality
The Good Dog Blueprint is the definitive distillation of 22 years of trial, error, and breakthrough. My journey into professional dog behavior was not a choice, but a necessity forced by my very first dog: George.
When I got George, an American Field Lab, I deliberately chose the most challenging puppy in the litter—the one showing signs of "alpha mentality," eager to push boundaries and disinterested in human attention. I thought I was ready, armed with classic training manuals. I couldn't have been more wrong.
George was a high-energy, "no stop, all go" dog who was overtly dominant over every dog, child, and human he encountered. The classic methods failed completely. I realized quickly that George was no ordinary dog, and his success depended entirely on me developing a customized training rhythm that addressed his unique personality directly.
Forging the Blueprint in the Fire
I had to throw out the rulebook. Through relentless trial and error, deeply rooted in working with his specific personality, I developed what is now the foundation of the Confident Dog Training philosophy. This system was designed to harness his immense drive, not suppress it, by teaching him how to think and make sound decisions within a framework of fair, clear boundaries.
The proof came through transformation: George went on to earn titles in Obedience and Rally and was certified as a Service Dog with his Canine Good Citizen title, visiting children's and nursing homes—a testament to turning a supposedly dominant, untrainable dog into a calm, focused companion.
The Mission: From One Dog to a Lifetime of Success
The lesson learned with George was immediately applied to my good friend’s rescue Pit Bull, who struggled severely with dog aggression and reactivity. Using the customized methodology developed for George, we transformed that reactive Pit Bull into an off-leash companion and model citizen, welcomed wherever the family went.
These early, high-stakes successes—a naturally dominant Lab and an aggressive rescue Pit Bull—got me started down a long, rewarding line of helping dogs and owners over the years. What thrills me most is the long list of dogs that might have ended up in shelters or locked away due to behavioral issues who are now living their best lives as a crucial part of the family pack.
My mission is to deliver that same breakthrough to you: to give you the Blueprint for a relationship built on implicit trust and the joy of having a pet that is always together with you
